L'artisane réinterprète ici la forme emblématique des kokeshi japonaises, qui ont inspiré tant d'artistes occidentaux. Ses kokeshi sont toujours peintes avec beaucoup de soin, superposant couleurs transparentes, détails dorés ou nacrés, et motifs japonais.
Pour cette occasion spéciale, Réka a fait grandir ses kokeshi au ruban de bois : elles font environ 16 cm de haut. Leurs kimonos sont ornés de camélias, représentés de différentes manières : arbuste fleuri, motif textile, fleurs uniquement... avec toujours beaucoup de finesse dans le décor. Une partie d’entre elles servent le thé, tenant théière en fonte et tasse.
Chacune porte le kanji 八, qui correspond au chiffre 8, en clin d’oeil au 8e anniversaire de Folkeshi.
Cette pièce unique est le travail de Réka Toth-Vasarhelyi, une artiste hongroise dont les kokeshi ont été plusieurs fois récompensées au Japon.

Here, the artist reinterprets the emblematic shape of Japanese kokeshi, which have inspired so many Western artists. Her kokeshi are always painted with great care, superimposing transparent colours, gold or pearlescent details and Japanese motifs.
For this special occasion, Réka has enlarged these kokeshi: they are around 16 cm tall. Their kimonos are adorned with camellias, represented in different ways: a flowering shrub, a textile motif, flowers only... always with a great deal of finesse in the decoration. Some of them serve tea, holding a cast-iron teapot and a cup.
Each bears the kanji 八, which corresponds to the number 8, in a nod to Folkeshi's 8th birthday.
This unique piece is the work of Réka Toth-Vasarhelyi, a Hungarian artist whose kokeshi have won several awards in Japan.
